Gold medalist offered civil servant job

Gold medalist in Asian Games 2018 will be recruited through special channel.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GARUT -- The district administration of Garut in West Java will immediately propose the recruitment of the Asian Games 2018 gold medalist from the region as a civil servant. It will be offered as a mark of honor.

"We have prepared the proposal that will immediately be sent to the minister of administrative reform for his employment as a civil servant," Garut District Head Rudy Gunawan informed newsmen here on Friday.

He said the district administration of Garut had promised to offer a civil servant job to the region's athletes, who could win a gold medal in the Asian Games 2018. "In line with the law, he will be recruited through a special channel," he stated.

He said some of the athletes were university students, so they would be recruited based on their senior high school diplomas. Before being recruited, the athletes will be confirmed on their readiness to become civil servants.

"We will first offer it to them. They may later be placed in the sports and youth affairs service," he revealed.

"There will also be a bonus but I do not know how much it is," he added.

Pencak silat men's and women's art team athletes from Garut have won gold medals at the 18th Asian Games. Lutfi Nurhasanah, Gina Tri Lestari, and Pramudya Yuristya won a gold medal in the women's event, while Nunu Nugraha, Anggi Faisal, and Asel Yuldan in the men's event.
