REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Commission VIII House of Representatives member from Democratic Party faction, Khatibul Umam Wiranu regretted State Intelligence Agency (BIN) that openly announced mosques in Jakarta that indicated spread radicalism. He said it was not right, because BIN’s report should be submitted to president, not public.
“BIN seems lacks of work to announce problems that should be reported to president and solve by government,” said Khatibul on Thursday (Nov 22).
Khatibul said, BIN should report to president directly, then the state leader will make concrete anticipatory steps to solve problems. President will also reprimand the committees of mosques indicated spread radicalism.
Khatibul said the issue was not about public distrust against BIN’s report. However, the way to announce the report to public was not right due to many factors that made certain groups exposed to radicalism.
“It could be a result of economic injustice, political injustice, or social inequality, the gap is too wide,” Khatibul added.
Khatibul also said announcement from BIN made concern in the community. He stressed the announcement was not for public consumption.
Earlier, BIN special staff, Arief Tugiman revealed there are 41 mosques in ministries and institutions exposed to radicalism. His statement came on a discussion about Islamic mass organizations role in Unitary Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
From BIN’s data, 41 mosques consisted of 11 mosquest at ministries offices, 11 mosques at institutions offices, and 21 mosques at state-owned enterprises (BUMN) offices. Arief explained there are seven mosques with low category radicalism, 17 mosques with moderate radicalism, and 17 mosques with high category radicalism.
Arief admitted the survey result came from Board of Trustees of Islamic Boarding Schools (Pesantren) Development Association and the Nahdlatul Ulama Community (P3M NU) in 2017. Meanwhile, P3M NU said the survey was done for a month in September to October 2017 or six months after Jakarta Gubernatorial Election.
According to P3M, the survey result came up with indication, not conclusion.
