Jokowi inaugurates nine elected governors

Ridwan Kamil and Ganjar Pranowo are among governor-elect inaugurated by Jokowi.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially inaugurated nine elected governors and deputy governors elected in 2018 regional elections on Wednesday (Sept 5) at State Palace, Jakarta. The inauguration began at 09.30 WIB (Indonesia West Standard Time).

Prior to inauguration event, Jokowi, Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK), Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo marched and followed by elected governors and deputy governors. The event continued with the reading of the Presidential Decree and taking the oath.

“Will you swear an oath according to respective religions,” said Jokowi during the oath of office.

The elected governors and deputy governors then signed of the oath. The nine elected governors and deputy governors are South Sulawesi governor-elect Nurdin Abdullah and his deputy-elect Sudirman Sulaiman, North Sumatra governor-elect  Edy Rahmayadi and his deputy-elect Musa Rajekshah, Southeast Sulawesi governor-elect Ali Mazi and his deputy-elect Lukman Abunawas. In addition there are Central Java governor-elect Ganjar Pranowo and his deputy-elect Taj Yasin Maimoen, Bali governor-elect I Wayan Koster and his deputy-elect Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati, and West Borneo governor-elect Sutarmidji and his deputy-elect Ria Norsan.

The other regional heads are elected East Nusa Tenggara Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat and his deputy Josef Nae Soi, Papua governor-elect Lukas Enembe and his deputy Klemen Tinal, and West Java governor-elect Ridwan Kamil and his deputy-elect Uu Ruzhanul Ulum.
